Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.

Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes across the region in retaliation for a large-scale and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Large columns of dark smoke were observed billowing from an vicinity in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the American officials has not commented.

Missile Defenses Activated

In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - said they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their airspace.

In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

IRGC Statement

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic carried out by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday.

That initial attack - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted locations linked to the Iranian leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the regime.

Regional Fallout

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the country has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the projectiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a series of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
