Football Analyst Chris Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match winning streak came to an end by Sunderland prior to the international break, but can the English top division leaders bounce back against north London rivals Spurs this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated soccer specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, readers and a variety of special visitors.

For week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's new record, Knees Up, is available on the weekend.

Football and Parenting Experiences

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of multiple Soccer Aid games over time - but he is not intending a serious return as a player.

"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a friend of mine," he said. "The side was losing 3-1 when I was substituted in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it even now hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or boy chooses to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their manager.

"I will not push football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they do get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their weekend football side," he added.

"I observed my relatives play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That might be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from injury but their attack is already stronger with Pedro and Liam Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be quite close, however. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with Chelsea to edge it for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their previous couple matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, the Hammers secured two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.

West Ham's sole away win this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - will it be West Ham continuing their run under Nuno, or the home side responding?

I will go with Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have picked up under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a few observers under their manager and are in fine fettle with three in their last four games.

My son told me to get Bees striker Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will probably score again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

The Bees have not had great fortune on the travel this term, and Brighton are consistently decent at home. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel the home manager's team carry much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

Olly's prediction: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a many goals but it actually proves to be rather tight. 1-1

AI's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.

They have have lots of quality in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.

Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

Their performance in the two-all tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We have not witnessed any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.

The logical choice would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the end of last month.

But I am not going to choose that. Rather, I truly need to continue opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good outcomes because they clearly enjoy to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage record, the sole team they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but they have nonetheless been respectable at home this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a tough one to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
